Extreme Weight Loss star Brandi Mallory, a former makeup artist, has passed away at the age of 40. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her death on November 9th in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Although the cause of her death has not been disclosed, Mallory’s journey to weight loss had a significant impact on her life.
Mallory appeared in season 4 of the ABC series Extreme Weight Loss back in 2014. In a 2018 interview on YouTube with Atlanta journalist Kirby Carroll, she revealed what led her to join the reality show. Mallory shared that the death of one of her sorority sisters at just 29 years old prompted her decision to pursue weight loss.
Stating her mindset at the time, Mallory said, “I was literally waking up every day like… this may be my last day waking up, like, I don’t know what’s going to happen for me.” This fear for her own life made her realize that she needed to take action and prioritize her health.
While she didn’t get selected as a contestant for The Biggest Loser after seeing a casting call, producers from Extreme Weight Loss reached out to Mallory based on information sent by The Biggest Loser. She expressed her gratitude for this opportunity and credited it to divine intervention. Mallory remarked, “Literally every footstep since then has been God. I prayed over that application before I sent it off; I prayed every step of the way.”
On the show, Mallory opened up about reaching her heaviest weight of approximately 329 lbs. However, during her time on Extreme Weight Loss, she pushed herself to new heights by competing in the Half Ironman challenge – swimming, biking, and running a combined distance of 70.3 miles within eight hours.
After appearing on Extreme Weight Loss, Mallory maintained her passion for fitness through dance and frequently shared updates with her followers on Instagram. Her final post was shared on November 3rd, just days before her passing.
In honor of Brandi Mallory’s memory, her family and friends held a candlelight vigil on November 12th. According to her obituary, a memorial service will be held in Lithonia, Georgia, on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Kim Williams Maxile, a contestant from season 5 of Extreme Weight Loss, paid tribute to Mallory on Instagram. In her heartfelt post on November 9th, she wrote, “Rest in Love sis… You truly made an impact on this world with your zest and your passion for body positivity.”
Brandi Mallory’s journey reminds us of the importance of taking control of our health and making positive changes. It serves as an inspiration for others struggling with weight loss or health issues.
